Our Pick of the Best Trench Coats

As the April showers set upon us and the temperature gauge climbs a few degrees, we still need an outer garment to keep us warm, waterproof and wonderfully chic. It's that time of the year to dig out your trench coats!

If you haven't got one of these wardrobe classics , or if like me yours is getting a bit old and tatty, I have compiled a collection of macs which may just tickle your fancy. But first, before I show you the best buys on the high street, it would be criminal if I failed to mention the legendary trench coat designer.

Of course, without question, the 'ultimate' trench coat is that of the amazing Burberry. The originators of this classic look will always out do themselves every year with a new twist to their forever coveted mac. It goes without saying, I WANT one of these bad boys! In fact, I have been staring at this trench coat for a good ten minutes - it's ridiculously magnificent!

If, like me, you will never be able to afford a Burberry then take a look at the more reasonably priced numbers below.

The M&S mac is ideally paired with a Breton striped top and flat pumps for the oh-so-perfect Parisian look but, if the Breton tee isn't quite enough, then try this striped collarless trench coat from Debenhams.

Navy Striped Collarless Mac - £55

If you are looking for a richer colour trench coat then Asos has got this sandy shade coat which will look fabulous styled with a pair of bold coloured skinnies.

This double-breasted trench coat from French Connection is a smart investment for your wardrobe and of course, like any other mac, it will never go out of fashion.

Could there be anything more elegant to wear over a gown for an evening out?? This coat by Coast is simple yet soooo classy. I love the bow tied belt.

For a more casual look then this slouchy mac from the House Of Fraser will look fab with a pair of skinny jeans and a slouchy tee.Full circle
Full circle Relaxed Slouchy Mac - £135

I LOVE detail and a shiny zip always gets my vote. Again another trench coat from House Of Fraser, I think this could be my third favourite (after the Burberry ones).

The Kooples hold a very special place in my heart (not in my purse). I adore this shop. There is not a single item I would or could not wear. And this coat is superb - I am loving the larger lapels for a more modern twist.

And finally, but not least, I have found this lovely number at River Island. This cute coat would look ace worn with any casual outfit and accessorised with some sunglasses, of course!

So, which one are you going to buy? And on a more serious note, if anyone has or is going to buy a Burberry trench coat you are best to remain silent because I will break into your house and steal it.
