I Am A Handbag Whore!

Yep, I think the title of this post says it in a nutshell, I am a designer bag whore! You will often find me swooning and drooling whilst loitering in a handbag department/shop - bags are my addiction. Unfortunately for me I am unable to buy all the handbags and clutch bags which I covet, (much to my husband and bank balance's delight!) But it never stops me admiring such stunning leather creations, for hours on end.

To put my daydreaming into more of a reality then why not share with you lovely lot all of the clutches and totes which I love need. And if by any chance one of you are feeling generous then please don't hesitate in treating someone (me) with some super arm candy!

Firstly, here's some clutch bags which are perfect for spring/summer, all of these little bags of loveliness will have you looking bang on trend. If you look closely at no.1 you will see the Anya Hindmarch clutch says I LOVE YOU. Well, who wouldn't love their boyfriend/partner/husband if they bought you this for Valentines Day?

These are quite pricey but they are very, very, very nicey! I am obsessed with the Sophie Hulme backpack (no. 4), the straps are ruddy marvellous! It's fair to say all four of these bags pack a punch when it comes to style and will make any outfit you wear look top notch.

I do believe us ladies have very different tastes when it comes to choosing a handbag. I prefer a simple handbag which isn't overloaded with lots of straps, pockets, zips or embellishments. But more importantly, I prefer to purchase a bag which will go with most outfits in my wardrobe therefore you may want to play it safe with the colour. For spring I quite fancy the very neutral grey patent 11" Cambridge satchel (no. 2) or the Rebecca Minkoff hobo (no. 4).

I am a HUGE fan of a big bag and my goodness there are some fantastic choices out there. I am also a fan of a bag which stands out and adds some 'oomph' to an outfit, especially when I am wearing jeans. All of these bags are going to turn heads and people will stop you in the street and ask "Excuse me, but where is your handbag from?"

Are you drooling? I am, this is sheer handbag porn! My heart goes all of a flutter when I look at designer handbags. And you can never have enough bags, right?

I'd better get myself down to the newsagents and buy a lottery ticket…..

Pretty Wedding Dresses For The Budget Bride

I have found some very pretty wedding gowns which will save you a lot of pennies on your wedding budget. Firstly I have these three designer wedding gowns which have been drastically reduced to super duper purse friendly prices. I think the Alberta Ferretti gown is an absolute jaw dropping frock; a dress which will be amazing to try on and even nicer than the pic below.

Would you believe you can buy these five stunning gowns from the high street? Yep, House of Fraser have got some beauties in stock and I have chosen these five dresses as my top picks.

Fabulous aren't they? It is difficult to look at such prettiness and not dream about getting married again. Can someone please make it compulsory for us ladies to have to wear a wedding dress every year, I want to go and try on some silk and lace loveliness again.

A girl can dream!

Make Sticky Marmalade Cake

It has been a while since I had a recipe to add to the blog, seriously I have been trying out lots of different recipes and finally last week I baked a cake which had my friends going back for a second and a third slice - or 'just a tiny slither as they prefer to call it.

I bring you one lip smacking, tasty cake today - Sticky Marmalade Cake. I used the recipe from Great British Bake Off's 'How To Bake The Perfect Victoria Sponge And Other Baking Secrets' book. And here is my delicious creation, before it was devoured:

sticky marmalade cake

I am sure you will want to have a go at baking this cake, which by the way, is one of the easiest recipes and cakes to bake ever!

Ingredients

For the sponge:
175g unsalted butter (I softened it for a few seconds in the microwave)
175g caster sugar
3 large eggs
175g self raising flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
3 tbsp chunky Seville orange marmalade (make sure you buy the best one you can find)
2 tbsp full fat or semi skimmed milk

For the topping:
3 tbsp chunky Seville orange marmalade
100g icing sugar
2 tbsp warm water

How to make it

1. Preheat the oven to 180'C/Gas Mark 4. Grease a 2ocm round cake tin and line with baking paper

2. Beat the butter with a wooden spoon or electric mixer until creamy. Gradually mix in the sugar and continue beating until the mixture becomes pale and fluffy.

3. Bit by bit beat in the eggs, make sure you beat well after each addition. Then you must add 1 tbsp of the flour with the last portion of the egg.

4. Sift the remaining flour, salt and baking powder into the bowl and gently fold the mixture with a large metal spoon. When thoroughly combined, stir in the marmalade and milk.

5. Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin and spread evenly. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch (my cake was ready after 35 minutes). Run a knife around the inside of the tin to loosen and then carefully turn the cake out onto a wire rack.

6. Gently warm the marmalade (I put my marmalade in the microwave on the lowest setting for 10 seconds) and brush it all over the top of the warm cake. Then allow the cake to cool completely - in other words it's time to tidy up and clean the kitchen.

7. Once the cake is cool it's time to finish off the topping. Sift the icing sugar into a bowl, add the warm water and mix to a smooth and runny icing. Spoon the icing over the cake, allowing it to run down the sides a bit. Now all you have to do is wait for the icing to set and the cake is ready to eat. Fill up the teapot with a fresh brew and enjoy!

I'm BACK!

Hello my lovelies!

It’s been a while…after a wonderful (yet tiring) few months off on maternity leave, I am back and blogging! Did you miss me?

What have you all been up to? Of course, I've had my hands full with my beautiful little boy - he's now 4 months and teething, would you believe? Where has the time gone?

I won’t be blogging as often as I did, but I have plenty of new discoveries and yummy treats to share with you over the next few weeks! Apologies in advance – they may cause you to put on quite a bit of weight.

Anyway, I will leave you all with a few pics of my beautiful little boy, Zayn. I am one proud mama J

This Week's Top Picks From The High Street

Well, hello there! Apparently this week is the most depressing time of the year, so what better way to cheer yourselves up than some high street shopping.

And, there has been some sort of a miracle, Zara has got its mojo back and they are back to the top of our High Street Hitlist. Halleujah! Get yourselves over to their website, there's plenty more to feast your eyes on.

Unfortunately the other high street stores (except Topshop) have not wowed us this week, haven't got a clue what happened to ASOS but other than wanting to dress up like Rita Ora then you will be saddened at their new drops.

My favourite item of the week has got to be the black mini bowler bag with zips from Zara, LOVE IT!
Let me know which item you are coveting right now.

Have you heard of Kitty & Dulcie? If not, then where have you been?

This is one very smart online bridal boutique who provide vintage inspired dresses for ladies who want to look their best on their wedding day. It is ran by two very fashion focussed ladies - Mrs Kirstie Taylor (Head Designer at Flo & Percy) and Shelley Carter-Bright (Beauty Writer for lots of top magazines).

I can remember when Kitty & Dulcie started a few years ago and they took off immediately. Why may you ask…..because not only are their frocks gorgeous but they are inexpensive too!

This week Kitty & Dulcie have launched their new Country Set collection and there are seven magnificent frocks all very different to one another but equally as fabulous. Take a butchers at these little beauties:

Don't forget to pop on over to Kitty & Dulcie's online boutique and take a look at all the other dresses, you will be amazed at the choice. You can also email Kirstie & Shelley at [email protected].
Each and every question is answered and gowns are posted within 5 working days of order.

When you purchase your dream dress it will arrive wrapped in tissue, with a satin padded hanger, enclosed in a gorgeous pink box. All you have to do is stare at it until your big day…..oh and try it on every time your fiancé is not at home.

I think Baroness Pearl has got to be my favourite from this new collection, I am loving the flash of colour with the bright red sash. So cool! And wearing a shorter length skirt can only mean one thing…….a pair of drop dead gorgeous killer heels!

Hmmm…..Louboutin or Manolos???
