Guest Blog - How to get the Louis Vuitton Look

We adore our graphic eyes and black eyeliner, but somehow never quite manage to get it right. So, you can imagine how thrilled we were when the fabulous ladies at Fix Make-up agreed to do a guest post for us!

Here, they teach us how to get the beauty look from one of our favourite SS12 catwalks, Louis Vuitton...

FIXmakeup.co.uk is the collaborative project by three makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts based in London. We love iamintothis.com and jumped at the chance to do a guest blog slot to show you all a step-by-step guide to an on-trend, catwalk look.

The S/S12 catwalk show by Louis Vuitton was a visual girlie delight, that took the fashion and beauty worlds by storm. Key makeup artist, Pat McGrath created an ethereal look that complemented Marc Jacob’s vision perfectly. To enhance the look even further, Louis Vuitton had all their models sit on a fairground carousel, with the finale  modeled by Kate Moss, making one of her rare catwalk appearances.

Here at FIXmakeup, there is nothing we love more then showing you how wearable and easy this look is to recreate on yourself. The makeup itself is all about the lashes and we’re going to show you how layering pairs of lashes on top each of other can be a key feature. This look is perfect for both everyday and special occasion.

Step 1
First step is to conceal the under eye area and groom the brows. Too much concealer on the under eye can look cakey and it will eventually fall into fine lines. We would recommend to keep concealer light on the under eye, but make sure there is a good amount of coverage on the inner eye, near the tear duct, as this is the area which tends to have most discoloration. After concealer dust a thin layer of powder to set, FIX used Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit, which comprises of a creamy concealer and a pressed powder. Comb brows upwards and outwards and then fill in any gaps, FIX used Laura Mercier Brow Definer.

Step 2
Now it's all about highlighter and eye shadow. This is a natural look, which is predominantly about glow. Use a product with a soft glow, whether it’s a cream or powder. FIX used MAC’s Cream Colour Base in ‘Lunar’ on the top of the brow, underneath the arch of the brow, on the top of the cheekbone and for extra radiance to the inner eye. We then dusted a light shimmery eye shadow all over the lid and up towards the brow bone, FIX used MAC’s eye shadow in ‘Dazzlelight’. We then created some definition by apply a soft brown eye shadow in the crease of the eye with a fluffy brush, FIX used MAC’s eye shadow in ‘Wedge’.

Step 3
Next step mascara and liner. Apply a black mascara to your top lashes, FIX used Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ mascara. The liner is created using a gel or liquid liner, which will give you a more precise, sharp look then using a kohl pencil. Apply a liquid or gel liner close to the lash line, stopping when you get to the last eyelash, this is not a look that requires a flick. FIX used Bobbi Brown’s Long Wear Gel Liner in ‘Jet Black’

Step 4
Now it’s all about the false lashes. We used 3 pairs of MAC’s lashes; 2 pairs of number 36’s and 1 pair of Number 3’s and applied them on top of each other. This look is about having black density at the root of the lash, but fluttery and fluffy lashes at the tips.
