Out With The Old, In With The New!

There's no denying it, I love make-up and it's time again for me to do a stock replenishment of my make-up bag. I need to get rid of those items which are probably over a year old, it pains me to throw make-up away but it has to be done. No lady should use mouldy make-up which is past it's use by date.

So, it's time for me to hit the beauty counters and get trying and buying.  I am not a beauty snob, I buy what is best for me, best for my skin and the look I like to achieve. I have been doing a bit of online research and here's my wish-list.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY

Firstly I am never going to give up the smoky eye, I like a good old gun metal grey on my peepers to glam it up. I have been brushing up on my application skills with make-up artist, Deborah Bennett, who has taught me to 'up' the intensity. It's all about adding definition. Here's a selection of products which will achieve this look.

For a daytime look during Autumn/Winter I do tend to brighten my eyes with a bit of colour. Nothing is nicer than indulging in the Autumnal colours. Here's what has been catching my eye.

CHEEK TO CHEEK

Last year, for the first time, I tried a cream blusher and I was hooked! My cheeks can be quite dry especially during the bitterly cold months; the cream blusher prevents them from looking so leathery. Here's some of the new blushers which have hit the stores recently….

FUNKY NAILS

Put away the pastels, it's time to get more flashy with your talons! Whether you like a shimmer, a metallic touch or a full-on glitter fest I have got it here. It's time to give your nails a sparkly punch.

For many years I have donned a berry shade, black or a gunmetal grey nail polish but this time I want to spice things up a bit and go for more autumnal shades of anything from a rusty orange to a poo brown. Seriously don't diss the brown, you will be pleasantly surprised how bloomin' ace it looks on.

PUCKER UP!

I don't feel there is any specific colour which a woman should wear on her lips, if you are someone who loves to wear just a slick of eyeliner then be bold and go for a bright irresistible pout. I think every woman should have a nude lip in her make-up bag as well as a fuchsia pink or a flaming hot red. BUT whatever bold shade you opt for, please make sure it suits you. Don't wear a shade just because it's fashionable, pick a shade that looks good on you.

I think simplicity for a daytime lip look is always gorgeous, slap on a juicy balm to protect your lips or a slick of lipgloss for a bit of colour. I don't feel expensive lip glosses have anything more to offer than the cheaper brands so save your money and go and buy a few on the 3 for 2 offers which you can normally find on the high street.

Here's a selection of lipsticks which I am noting today and adding to my wish-list. ByTerry will be right at the top of my list, it will always be my goto lipstick. If you want something which doesn't budge then it is worth paying out for a ByTerry lipstick (available at SpaceNK). By far the best lipstick I have ever bought.

Have you got any make-up items which you truly believe are THE best? Let me know, I like to know what else is worth taking a look at. I'll be at Harvey Nichols in Birmingham this evening for a bloggers event, I cannot wait to hit the SpaceNK department. Terrible for my bank balance!
