Yellow Handbags to Brighten Your Wardrobe

Every week, I look forward to receiving the wonderful Bag Servant's guest post. In fact, it makes me dance for joy! Crammed full of beautiful, lustworthy bags, it's a must-read for any fashionista.

This week, the lovely Michaela from one of our favourite blogs, Chic Fantastique, picks her favourite yellow handbags. From lemon yellow to neon brights and sherbet hues, this beauties are enough to brighten any girl's wardrobe this Spring.

Just as an aside - how beautiful is Victoria Beckham's structured leather tote?! A lottery win would be good right now...

Squeals of joy quite literally escaped my mouth as I soaked up the recent London weather. Warm, bright, sun-shining days. So when asked by our gorgeous friends at I Am Into This to write about our favourite yellow bags, I thought - this couldn’t be any easier.

But then the weather changed, and the grey took over, and the chill returned to the air. How could I possibly think of yellow when all I could see and feel was grey. So I looked to inspiration from our favourite place in the world, the French Riviera where you can never be too rich or too brown, where the sun shines brightly against the famous azure of the sky and yacht-dotted seas. So, join me on my yellow handbag adventure - I promise you’ll enjoy it.

Let’s board our flight bound for Nice with the iconic Mulberry Bayswater Holiday Tote in Lemon Sherbet. The perfect size to carry my passport in the inside zip compartment, eye cream, lip gloss, face-wipes, book (I’m not a Kindle kinda-gal), mobile and charger, French dictionary, magazine, bottle of water....hmmmm, do I need anything else?

I arrive in time for brunch, and head to the Promenade des Anglais, carrying the chicest addition to my bag collection with the Victoria Beckham Structured leather tote. I am in love with Victoria’s designs, and she has certainly made the fashion world sit up and take note with her luxe-couture. This tote has little feet at the bottom so that it sits perfectly when rested on my brunch table. I take a window seat overlooking the deep blue sea, and the pale yellow of this tote is totally eye-catching. I am sensing bag envy from admirers.

I head to the hills high above Nice to one of the areas only wine growing regions which is rich in history, and surrounded by beautiful views. I am wine tasting avec lunch on the deck of the vineyard complete with my Riki Rosetta Bella Tote in lemon yellow. It’s a beautiful, lightweight bag perfectly on-trend with the current pastel look - fresh, romantic, and soft. I team this pastel tote with a retro vibe of silk printed trousers, and white cotton vest.

Returning to Nice and the area by the bay and harbour full of antique stores and markets. I mooch with my Chloe Paratay Medium leather shoulder bag which I team with a pretty floral skirt and top in matching neutrals. I love touching this soft egg-shell coloured leather, and this bag is easily carried over my forearm as I wander in and out of the tiny stores crammed with silver, china, fabrics....oh, and a genuine Louis Vuitton 1970s travel case. I think I’m in love. I’d better leave before I purchase!

Dinner is in Old Nice Town surrounded by the day’s remnants of the fish and flower markets. I sport the vibrant Ted Baker Woody Mini Bowling Handbag in bright yellow and team it with a black chiffon art-deco style dress with a plunging neckline. We wander through this area spoilt for choice with restaurants, but we soon disappear down one of the side streets to a tiny door which opens into the most indulgent Indian restaurant complete with lavish decor. This bowler handbag is fun and bright, and I can carry my camera to take photos of every dish put in front of us.

The night is far from over, as I head to the harbour and board a super yacht (invitation only) for a cocktail party with live jazz. The atmosphere is buzzing, and the bar men are shaking, and stirring and the air smells of fresh mint, sugar and the sea. I stay in the black chiffon art-deco dress. The pleats of the skirt gently float in the cool night breeze, and I carry my pièce de résistance - the Jimmy Choo Cayla patent leather clutch in neon yellow with black interior lining perfectly matching my black dress.

Back at my hotel I think over my roller-coaster day, full of my favourite yellow bags for this season. It’s time to drift into relaxed Riviera inspired slumber, as I dream of more vivid fashion travels.
